Sticking to my day job…

OK, so I discovered that children’s party planner is not a part of my vocation…

We decided it would be fun to throw our delightful little First Communion darlings a party. Sweets were hidden all over the Square garden for a treasure hunt; eggs were hard-boiled for an egg and spoon race…and then the little terrors arrived. We knew everything boded well when one delightful boy attempted to take a photo of a girl’s knickers as she clambered over the railings into the garden. The three-legged race failed miserably as we discovered that seven-year-olds have no coordination. British bulldog ended in tears. The seminarian on placement and I spent the whole hour running around the garden fetching kids down from railings, resolving fights over sweets and coaxing the girls to try going just a *little* bit faster in the egg-and-spoon race. It all wound up nicely when the boy who went first on the apple bobbing failed to swallow the chocolate that was in his mouth first. Ew.

Definitely back to catechesis for me…

About transformedinchrist

I live in Southsea and work for the Diocese of Portsmouth. My first love is for catechesis and evangelisation: until January 2013, I worked for a busy, thriving parish in south London coordinating the catechesis - sacramental programmes and adult formation. In November 2013, I completed my MA in catechetics at Maryvale Institute, Birmingham. View all posts by transformedinchrist
